CURATED HOSPITALITY

This trend is all about consumers demanding fresh products that are not usually associated with local convenience stores, paired with the kind of service usually found in hospitality.
Consumers are becoming more savvy about what they put in their bodies and their expectations of what service should be are changing.

Green Zebra

Portland

Part grocery store, bar, restaurant and most importantly, community center, Green Zebra stores prioritise customer service above all else. Unlike many other convenience stores, there is always more than one member of staff available at any given time, and staff members are staggered throughout rather than kept at the till, ensuring they are on hand to answer any questions customers may have. No lottery tickets or tobacco is sold, instead the stock includes cannabis-laced soda, salmon jerky, organic wine and kombucha on tap. Customers are offered discounts if they walk or cycle to the store.
